YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

The San Diego Lion’s Club is noted for its generosity in serving our communities, however the Youth Activities Committee saw an opportunity to enhance the image as well as promote the Lion’s Club creed of community service.  This committee proposed a scholarship award based heavily on youth community service.  While financial need and a sufficient grade point average must be demonstrated, community service, aligned with the Lion’s Club’s general objectives is the bulk of the criteria which are:

  • To encourage service-minded men and women to serve their community without personal financial reward to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.

  • To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.

  • To take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.

  • To unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.

  • To provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics, and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.

We are very proud of our accomplishments thus far and look forward to many years of providing scholarships to deserving young people.
